Elena Ferrari

Elena Ferrari is a full professor of Computer Science at the University of Insubria, Italy where she leads the STRICT SociaLab. Her research interests cover many areas in the fields of cybersecurity, privacy, and trust management. On these topics, she has published more than 240 scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings.

Dr. Ferrari has several prestigious awards, including the 2009 IEEE Technical Achievement Award for pioneering contributions to Secure Data Management, an IBM Faculty Award (2014), and a Google Research Award (2010). She was elected an ACM Distinguished Scientist in 2011 and an IEEE Fellow in 2012 (for contributions to security and privacy for data and applications). She has been included into the database of the 100 STEM Italian women experts and nominated one of the Italian inspiring fifty.

Prof. Ferrari’s has led several research projects in the last years. She is the chair or member of multiple steering committees (e.g., ACM SACMAT) and the PC chair of several prestigious conferences (e.g., ACM SACMAT, IEEE ICDE, ICWS, SCC, ACM/IEEE ASONAM). She is associate editor for the ACM Transactions on Data Science, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Internet Computing, Data Science and Engineering, and the International Journal of Cooperative Information Systems.

Barbara Carminati

Barbara Carminati is an associate professor in Computer Science at the University of Insubria, Italy. She visited several foreign universities as visiting researcher, among which: National University of Singapore, University of Texas at Dallas, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Tsinghua University, Beijng.

Her main research interests are related to security and privacy for innovative applications, like XML data sources, semantic web, data outsourcing, web service, data streams and online social networks. On these topics Barbara has published more than 60 publications in international journals and conference proceedings.

Barbara Carminati has been involved in several research projects. She is currently PI project funded by European Office of Aerospace Research and Development (EOARD).

Barbara Carminati is the editor in chief of the Computer Standards & Interfaces journal, Elsevier press. She has been involved in the organization of several international conferences as program committee members as well as program and general chair.

Pietro Colombo

Pietro Colombo is an assistant professor of Computer Science at the University of Insubria (Italy), where he works within the STRICT SociaLab of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences. Dr. Colombo holds a BS, MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Insubria, and a 2nd Level Master in Information Technology from CEFRIEL-Politecnico di Milano (Italy).

Dr. Colombo’s most recent research activities are in the field of access control within NoSQL datastores, privacy-aware data management, and data protection within the Internet of Things ecosystems, however, he has also worked in the field of service availability and model-driven engineering. On all these topics he has been the author of more than 40 scientific papers which have been published in international journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Colombo is also co-inventor of 2 US patents. 

Ha Xuan Son

Ha Xuan Son was born in CanTho city, Vietnam. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Software Engineering from the Faculty of Information Technology, Can Tho University, Vietnam (2013) and he received his Master’s in Computer Science from Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam National University HCM city (2017). Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. He works under the RAIS Marie Curie project with a focus on RAIS-INSUB-ESR4: User-centric personal data management.

Ahmed Lekssays

Ahmed Lekssays born in Douirane, Morocco, is a PhD candidate in computer science at the University of Insubria as a part of RAIS Marie Curie Projects. The title of his research is: “Blockchain-based secure data management”. He got his bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2018 and his master’s degree in software engineering in 2019 from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. His research focuses on security, privacy, blockchain, IoT, and malware detection.

Laila Tul Badar

Laila Tul Badar, born in Pakistan, is a Ph.D. candidate in computer science at the University of Insubria Varese, Italy. She received her bachelor’s degree in information technology in 2018 and his Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics with the research domain of Cryptography from Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 2021. Her research interests include security, privacy, blockchain, and zero knowledge proofing. 

Giorgia Sirigu

Giorgia Sirigu

Giorgia Sirigu is a PhD student of Computer Science and the Mathematics of Calculation at the University of Insubria (Varese, Italy). She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Insubria. Her Master’s thesis focused on a blockchain-based recovery system for IoT devices. Her current research topic is privacy in edge computing.
